Great for primary care.

I don't use this book everyday, but when I need it, it has EVERYTHING. There are a lot of procedures that most PCM's would never do, but it is nice to have the resource available in case I NEED to do it while on deployment or something... also to look at healing times, patient instructions, and alternative procedures for my own knowledge bank. The fracture care section is AMAZING. It is the only thing I have tabbed out in the entire book. This is the most common thing I look to this book for. Yes, there are books that are made specifically for fracture care...but I like have an all in one resource.

Good reference book for most outpatient procedures. For primary care physicians it is a very valuable resource. Most of the step by step instructions are described in detailed with pictures. Some procedure descriptions are not covered very detailed, and may not be really useful for someone who is trying to learn procedures. Overall a good book

If you want to know how to help a family in this crisis read this book.

I found reading this book equally comforting & horrifying. My emotional journey matched Alice's so much so it was uncanny. She made me feel normal for once. I am guessing that many in this situation find themselves sharing the same reactions. I am still sorting out what happened, and what to do. I may never know exactly what happened which is hard thing to live with. Alice was fortunate to have so much support with each step and some closure. I wish my family were so fortunate. We have been put through an additional hell. My kids and I were also affected by lies a struggling family member made up about them and I. My story is pretty unreal and still feels surreal. Who and what to believe? One day my whole world imploded and it is like I found myself in another universe. Left all alone and completely unraveling, to try to figure out how to keep my kids and I surviving in this strange new world, all while dodging bombs sent at us from our former friends and allies. Hopefully, more families come forward with their stories and people can get a glimpse of the hell that the families also find themselves in. I don't think people intentionally hurt the families. They just do not understand. I am glad there is a book now to help get a glimpse. I highly recommend this book.

It is a must read book

I don't know how I came upon this book , but reading it was the most eye opening ,saddest , horrifying, mind boggling reality check . For every person who has a child or children , who thinks something like this could never happen to them or there family , I urge you just to take a while and read this book . ....and I had to read it in stages ., because it affected me tremendously .
A book that needed to be written ...thank you , for having the courage to share with us . I applaude your honesty and compassion

Grade 4-7-Thirteen-year-old Iqbal Masih was murdered in his Pakistani village in April, 1995, a few months after he had received an international prize and traveled to Sweden and the United States, speaking about his six years as a bonded child in Lahore carpet factories. The murderers-perhaps part of the "Carpet Mafia"-have never been caught. In smoothly translated prose, D'Adamo retells the boy's story through the eyes of a fictional coworker. Also sold into servitude to pay her father's debt, Fatima worked in Hussain Khan's carpet factory for three years and had forgotten almost everything about her previous life. She had grown used to the long hours, the scanty rations, the heat, and the cramped quarters of a life spent tying carpet knots and sleeping beside her loom. She and the others in the workshop are stunned when Iqbal appears and tells them that their debts will never be paid. He tries to convince the children that their situations can change and he escapes to the market where he hooks up with members of the Bonded Labor Liberation Front. Fatima doesn't come alive as a character in her own right, but the situation and setting are made clear in this novel. Readers cannot help but be moved by the plight of these youngsters. This thinly disguised biography makes little effort to go beyond the known facts of Iqbal's life. Nonetheless, his achievements were astounding, and this readable book will certainly add breadth to most collections.

This book was a required read for my 6th graders and there was some rumblings from other parents about it. Thus I decided to read the book and make my own opinion and determination for my son. IT IS A MUST READ FOR ADULTS AND YOUNG ADULTS! I believe we all need to read books about other cultures to better understand world cultures and how our world here in America differs from those aboard. In addition, understand the courage Iqbal had to endure and to never give up on finding freedom (for him and others like him). What a great message for our kids to learn - courage to stand up for what is right and understanding other cultures outside of the U.S.

Perfect for read-aloud

I used this as a read-aloud in my 6th grade class. The kids were riveted - such a moving and appropriate book to address the big issues of child labor and exploitation in a way that is accessible to elementary students. Wonderful book!

My son and I highly recommend this book to others

I homeschool my 7th-grader, and I assigned this book to him for history class. My son was captivated by the main character of this book who is willing to sacrifice anything in order to be free. This book provided my son with invaluable insight into the lives of child laborers in underdeveloped parts of the world. No textbook could have accomplished the same. My son and I highly recommend this book to others.

Wren and Carter

Wren husband has just been killed in a car accident. Wren feels horrible she grew up with David and has become a devoted housewife. David wasn't alone when he passed , Oh No his secretary was with him the one he has been having an affair with. Not only is he gone she also discovers he was been stealing money from his company and now all of her assets, belongings, house , everything is frozen. She has no family expect her Dad who is to busy looking for a sugar momma to care.
Carter shows up at his estranged brothers funeral, he is just out of prison , he is a former NHL player who blow at his knee, and then went on a downward spiral. Carter is the only person Wren can go to for a place to stay. Carter has always had feelings for Wren, and moved away so her and his brother could be together. Now they are thrown together, both outcast, and attracted to one another.
So I flipping loved this story, it had it all, especially many many panty melting bow chicka bow wow moments, the humorous situations and blunt dialog with Wren and her bff June had me in stitches. Overall a perfect read, with haters, and drama, and oh so good loving. Lawless is the title but I really don't think it worked, but besides that perfection. I happily read this ARC to share my thoughts about Carter and Wren

Teagan has done it again and this is in my top 3 of Teagans books. I loved it so much i bought a copy. The story opens at a funeral for David and we meet Wren his wife. Who in forms us he was a cheating ass and died with his mistress in the car and she walks away without a scratch. You also learn he has a brother and she was in love with him but told to choose David. Carter is the bad boy brother who played in the NHL until an injury and later goes to jail. He shows up and defends Wren from his father. We learn David was more than just a cheater and not in a good way. Carter finally tells her why he went to jail and we get to watch this love blooms. A love you feel always existed and never got a fair chance till now. This is a must read. I recieved this book as an arc and i am giving my honest review voluntarily

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!

Wren was told to marry David when her heart told her to choose Carter. She did and then David died in an accident with his mistress in the car with him. She also discovers he has been stealing from his company and all her assets are frozen. She has no one to help her and turns to Carter who has just gotten out of prison. He has always had feelings for her and left so she could be with his brother. The attraction and chemistry is still there. You'll have to read it to see if they get their second chance at love. I loved this book and highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this book by the author with no obligation. It was so good, I purchased my own copy. Patsy Sacco

Separated from her sisters, she survived on her own and then with an elderly, handicapped couple. Although bloody corpses are a common sight, the book is not depressing. Aspects of Oriental culture and religion, such as the importance of family and the relationship of man to nature, can be seen. Sentences are usually short, but they don't detract from the effectiveness of this moving, autobiographical memoir. Recent immigrants from countries ravaged by war will find it particularly meaningful. I Enjoyed this book very much. Being of Okinawan ancestry, it was not until I visited Okinawa that I took an interest in the Battle of Okinawa. The ravages of war on a country and its people is so horrible....This was a brave little girl, who lived to tell her story. This is NOT a book for elementary school children.

I read this book because she shares my last name ...

but is no relation. And found I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. There are many mentions in the customer reviews about it being middle school or young adolescent lit, so I was a little leery. And it is in a way, because the episodes in her life are just presented the way she remembered them. There is no tying it back to a larger political idea, no closure of narrative like one expect in an adult novel, and often "characters" in her story walk away never to be seen from or heard from again. So, in that way, if you are expecting an adult account with deep reflections, ramifications both political and social, and prescriptions and condemnations, then you need to read another book. But Higa's account was refreshing in that way that children are. She presents everything without guile or over-analysis. You feel the visceral experience with her as she climbs over the wasteland that her country becomes. She never sugar-coats anything because there is no need to when just presented factually. You feel her need, understand her young judgements, and are just charmed by her plucky character. In today's multicultural educational system, this book would be a good addition to any history of WWII.

Sage advice shared in a straightforward way

Very insightful book about the importance company values and vision -- both often overlooked by companies/leadership. A lot of parallels between this book and the Netflix culture deck.

What I love about this book is that the authors will give a piece of advice at a high level and then they will back it up with lots of real-world examples, and explain why that advice is important.

It's also a relatively quick read without much filler, which I appreciate. Even though it was written over 20 years ago, the lessons here are timeless, and many companies (including startups/unicorns) are struggling with these issues today.

A great book (and MBA course) on entrepreneurship

Unless there are videos someplace, reading this book is the closest you can get to sitting in Jim Collins' class on entrepreneurship at Stanford (circa 1990). It's a distillation of what he taught in that class, minus the palpable energy he brought to every session and in particular the final class of each term. Twenty four years later, I still return to this book for inspiration and ideas for leadership, crafting strategy, creating genuine passion in a company, and gaining alignment. I'd also recommend Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive to build and sustain alignment. Both are useful.

Excellent Presentation on the Fundamentals of Business Execution

Excellent business book. I have read 100's of books on business and this one is at the top of the list. I pride myself on business leadership, strategy development and execution. Collin and Lazier did an excellent job of laying out the requirements of being a performing CEO and the fundamentals to use to build a successful business.

I discovered this book after watching a video with Reed Hastings (Netflix) and he mentioned this book being influential in the development of his business skills.

A very frustrating book to use as a reference. Look for something better.

Unfortunately, this book, while sharing some authorship with Minecraft Recipes for Dummies, is pretty much a disaster. It is very poorly indexed and the subjects are in many cases given information that begs for clarity and completeness. Because of these issues I rarely use it. Also, the Dummies books suffer from poor construction. A well-used reference like this should not start falling apart after a month of use.

Awesome book for the mother Minecraft "dummy" who wants to know what her son is talking about 24/7. It also gives so many cool tips and facts that my 8 yo son thought he already knew but didn't. Definitely recommend especially for younger kids and those who are not looking to build the complex structures that some other Minecraft books attempt to describe. Another awesome dummy book.
